The only really dark filter I had was some #87 infrared filters that I bought for covering my flash when photographing IR. I put one of those over the front of the bigma, and added a 2x teleconverter. So, all I really got was a bunch of pink crescents. I played with the exposure and saturation a bit in lightroom and you can sort of see the progress of the moon across the sun:
