Hi, Just received my "pristine" Spotmatic F from ebay--well, sort of pristine, except the battery compartment has a leaking battery in it. The copper contact has corroded off (actually, it fell into my lap after I removed the battery). It makes me wonder how the seller knew the meter was working.
I might try to attempt to remove the bottom plate. Can someone give me some general advice as to any problems I might encounter? Any strange wires or springs? I am hoping to find a little wire in there that I might solder a piece of copper foil onto. BTW, this package included a spotmatic F manual written in French (I think). Do you think this should have been mentioned in the ad? Anyone want to deal for it? And the case is missing the metal piece that attaches the bottom to the top, the little half moon. I would say about the last 8 of 10 ebay auctions I have won have ended up this way. I do not know how you folks always avoid such hassles.
