Yep, common tactic for "social media marketing". I see a lot of "like this" or "share this" offers from businesses and assorted attention-whores. It translates to "spam all of your friends to promote us".
i resist it fastidiously, but i am probably being sucked into behaviors at least as disagreeable in some subtler way
