I keep getting emails from various subsidiaries of Gawker telling me I need to
reset my password because their site got hacked.

I don't have a Gawker account, so I'm not going to reset the password.

are you sure you know all the subsidiaries? see the current & past list for
how you might have gotten into their database:

it's a bit ironic that Gizmodo, where the dude who got MacWiped works, is a
Gawker property

I've got a list of who I've created an on-line account with, and *they* are NOT on my list.

It all started a year or maybe two ago when hackers published a list of compromised accounts at Gawker. In fact, I think it might have been Gizmodo. Someone who knows me found my email address on that list and let me know about it.

Apparently, when someone created an account, Gawker didn't send confirmation emails requiring a response before activating it.
