I'm with you there, Bruce, about folks working themselves up into a lather. As they say, the dogs bark, but the caravan moves on.

Thought I'd put up the catalogue.

Fascinating work: I really love the sculptural, textured bronze-like
finish he gets on his subjects. I wonder if he achieves that with some
combo of makeup and gelled lighting? It's a look I'd love to try to
duplicate.

Regarding the controversy. Some folks are always going to interpret
ones intentions in the worst possible light. He's a brave man to
ignore the current "underage" sensitivities and use teens as
subjects--a guarantee of raised eyebrows at best or police action, as
happened before. He's no David Hamilton; I see not even mild eroticism
in his images.

I wonder if the granny with the walker in your one shot came down
hoping to be outraged? I can't tell whether she looks disturbed or is
just concentrating in your picture. Everyone else seemed to be
enjoying themselves very much.

Thanks for the report, Derby!

Went to the Bill Henson opening tonight. Hands down, the best show I've been
to all year.

For those who don't know, four years ago, there was a controversy
surrounding Henson's work, resulting in the NSW Police confiscating Henson's
photographs just before his show was to open. Charges were all dismissed,
but it has been touchy subject since. Last weekend, the Sydney Morning
Herald published a thoughtful piece that is worth the read.

I'm glad I live in a place that can have these debates can take place (Hetty
Johnston's rebuttal had a special highlight box around it in today's
Herald).

My humble pics from tonight (there are some NSFW)
