As it happens, I took both of these recently to Mali on two MZ-S bodies. Both lenses have had good reviews. I think the Pentax is a bit sharper, and definitely has better contrast. As others have noted, it will also have good flare control.
The chip on the 24-90 will communicate MTF function to the MZ-S (if you choose that PF setting), which gives the sharpest possible image. The Tamron won't do that. The Tamron is large and heavy. It feels nose-heavy on the MZ-S. You'll get used to it, though. If I was buying either lens, I'd buy the Pentax 24-90. But I already have zooms that do 80-200, 70-210, and 70-300. If you absolutely need 90-135, and are certain you won't buy a zoom telephoto, then the Tamron is okay. You won't be disappointed with it, but comparing images side-by-side I would have to say that the Pentax is better. (Sorry, I don't have a web site where I can post images.)
