Any whale pictures I've gotten were just a fluke. one of the chaps I was at school with is now one of the world's leading authorities on whales, dolphins and related large rubbery fishes, and he assures me that getting the classic picture of the fluke is one of the hardest of all cetacean photos to achieve, and is indeed usually a fluke. What whale photographers mostly get, apparently, is the hump.
