Wait a minute. Are you saying the button on the side of the

Tilt, rather than swivel.
I should also apologize, it seems the I had a total brainfart and for
some reason was remembering the button on the side as being necessary
to release the head for any tilt. I.e. I thought it needed to be
pressed to unlock it no matter what position it was in. This middle
age is getting bad. CRS is bad enough, becoming delusional is
annoying.
Good. That's what mine does. You have to push that button to tilt down,
but not for up. Swivel is just a detent.
I had to send mine back to Pentax when I first got it because it was
locked in manual zoom. After they sent it back, I dropped it and broke
the red plastic cover. I just ordered the part from Pentax and fixed it
myself. They wanted me to send it back, but I told them no.
Apparently the lens that goes into that small hole is a separate part,
because they didn't send that. I probably should contact them again and
buy that part as well.
I have experienced the problem others have reported with it going back
into default PTTL mode whenever it goes to sleep. I tried the suggestion
that was supposed to keep it from going into sleep, but that has only
been partially effective.
