Sorry for the all-caps title, but the image kind of dictated the choice. The
hand is that of Jerry V. from an earlier shot taken in the pool room.

I think it's still a work in process -- tried black & white, but it just
didn't do it for me.
I like the composition and the textures of the hand in the foreground,
but I can't read the letters on the fingers if they are supposed to
spell out "hate."
That's exactly what I was going to post. If it's important to read the
tattoo, you probably can't rescue this. (Taking a third look, I figured
out that the "HATE" is upside-down but still nearly unreadable.)
Here's a second whack at it with bumped up clarity and contrast:

I'm still on the fence, but it did seem to help.
Only a tiny bit if you're focused on the tattoo (particularly because
reading upside-down is difficult under the best circumstances), and I
prefer the color of the original (which to me also looks sharper, look at
the knuckle of the middle finger). However, the second version's color
probably is more accurate.
Side note: I probably would have shot a smaller aperture to get more of
the hand in focus, but that's a taste decision.
Thanks again, Aahz.
If I'd had more time to get the shot, I would've chosen a smaller
aperture, but it was just a quick snap taken at the bar while I was busy
working and had a brief moment to catch the subject reasonably stationary.
The tattoo itself isn't necessarily the subject, but the hand as a whole
-- the faded state of the tattoo being a feature.
