Ken, is your Pilot pen the kind that you have to shake a number of
times then "pump" the tip by pressing it down on some scrap to get the
ink flowing?

Yes.

I've never used them on Epson Satin though. On the Epson papers I've used the maker on it appears as an additional layer like paint.

I wonder if they've changed the formula over time. Or if the Satin
Photographic is especially impervious to the ingredients. It just
seems to sit on top of the paper and rubs off onto my finger when
touched.

Bruce, I have 'Pilot' gold & silver fine point metallic paint markers that

I know of pencils being used but the metallic paint markers were recommended
by a pro I know.

Subject: OT Q: pen for signing on inkjet paper?

Advice solicited: I want to sign a print I'm selling, discretely on
the front below the image (ie in the white border). So I need a grey
or silver fine-point pen that will write indelibly on Epson Satin
Photographic 240 GSM inkjet paper.

I bought a silver Pilot Super Color Extra Fine pen yesterday and
tested on some scraps, but even after 18 hours of drying it easily
smears. I really like the look of it -- not too contrasty and bold
like a black pen would be.

Would some pencil work? I'm sure a Sharpie would work for the
indelible part, but they have too fat a tip, and I don't think grey is
available.

Seems such a simple thing: sign a print. Sigh.

What do you do?
