Thanks Bruce, also Dan, Don, Aahz, Marnie and all those that looked. The image that came to my mind was the Penguin from the old Batman TV show. One detail that I forgot to mention to Aahz regarding lens sharpness is that almost any decent lens is going to be nice and sharp in the f/8-f/11 range. So it is important to use lenses where they are the strongest. I suspect that my DA35 macro is a lot sharper than the 18-250 at 35mm and f/4.
