Hi Everyone:

Well, I got the FA 50 f1.4 back and it seems to be working fine. But can you
believe it: I'm still waiting for the DA* 50-135mm. Pentax has had it since
the first week in July. I called the other day, and they have the new motor,
but the accompanying circuit board is still on back order with Pentax Japan.
Ugh!

I asked if there was any chance to get it back by Sept. 18th (field trip that
day), and no promises were given. Bummer. Just can't figure out why these
parts would be so hard to ship.

Cheers, Christine
Back in about 2002, I sent all three of my LX bodies off to Pentax for various repair work. They discovered that one of them had a broken circuit board, and thet my camera had one of the "old style" boards. They had to order the part from Japan, and Pentax actually had to build the new circuit board for me from parts. IIRC, it took the better part of 8 months for them to get the part, get it installed and put the camera back together. I was very happy regarding what they were willing to do for me, not terribly surprised at the time it took, but not very happy that they weren't willing to ship back the two cameras that were fixed until all three could be shipped back in the same box. Of course, two years later, the istD came along and I pretty much stopped shooting film.

When my 60-250 lost it's ability to auto focus, Pentax Canada was unable to fix it, and it got an all expenses paid trip to Japan, which extended that repair out by almost a month.
Sometimes these things just take time.
