We had a nice solar near-X-Flare last evening that is sending us an
earth-directed CME. After that hits we should have a good geomagnetic
storm with chances for aurora visible photographically pretty far
south.

The show could be starting already as it gets dark (in the U.S.), but
your best chances locally will usually be around local midnight.

Cloud cover looks to be a problem around here, so I may not get a
chance to see this one.

Tripod mount your camera pointed at the north horizon for 15-30
seconds at ISO 1600 and see what you get. Obviously better if you can
get away from city lights.
