We had a nice solar near-X-Flare last evening that is sending us an earth-directed CME. After that hits we should have a good geomagnetic storm with chances for aurora visible photographically pretty far south. We look to be getting a 1-2 punch: http://www.swpc.noaa.gov/wsa-enlil/
The show could be starting already as it gets dark (in the U.S.), but your best chances locally will usually be around local midnight. Cloud cover looks to be a problem around here, so I may not get a chance to see this one. Tripod mount your camera pointed at the north horizon for 15-30 seconds at ISO 1600 and see what you get. Obviously better if you can get away from city lights. -- Nothing is sure but death and Pentaxes. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
