Looking at poison oak rarely makes me itch.

When I took Walt to Bonny Doon beach, I slipped on the trail up the hill
to the train tracks. Once I was outside of sight from Hwy 1, I
donated some water and nitrates to the local bushes. On the way back
to the car I noticed some poison oak next to the trail, near where I
had slipped. A few days later, I confirmed that my hand had indeed
landed in the poison oak.

Like all California natives, I have a long list of poison oak stories.

I recently did a bit of research into it, and it's pretty interesting

I remember that. I got into a little bit of it, but was lucky enough to get out with just a mild case on my fingers.

A friend of mine and his little sister were hospitalized by either poison ivy or oak when I was a kid. Seems he'd started a little fire down in a creek bed and was burning whatever vegetation he could pile onto it -- some of which was the offending plant. They were both standing over it, breathing the fumes and smoke that rose from the fire, and it got into their eyes, throats, mouths, and just about everywhere else on their bodies. Screwed them up pretty badly for weeks.
