I think that your not taking into
account that at high speeds the
actual time varies more vs. the aperture
used than with slow shutter speeds. For example if the lens fstop
setting is wide open its going to take
longer for the shutter to be fully open
and also will begin to close faster thus
causing an under exposure relative to the
same shutter operation with a very small aperture like f22.
