Ann put it quite succinctly. :-)
Actually, I think about half the shots in the book are produced around
sunrise or sunset. Another fourty percent are from "normal" hours, and the
rest are night shots. I totally agree with Ann and the others commenting on
the quality of the light. I certainly prefer the light that happens when the
sun is close to the horizon.
Another factor is that I soon realised that the midday hours were the best
for doing the transport legs. I could be more efficient if arriving at a new
place with a couple of daylight hours left to do reconnoisance, procure
maps, pay entrance fees to parks, etc.
