I don't know how many of you have run across this already, but I think
this K-3 AF feature I discovered by accident is rather spiffing.
You know how, when selecting AF points, you can choose between the
whole enchilada, or a restricted cluster of 9, or a single point?
Okay, you knew that, but let's say you select the small cluster of
nine.
Now, did you know that you can move the center of the 9-cluster
around? If you push the 4-way arrows you can shift the cluster up to
the top where -- heavens to goodness! -- it is gathered around the
area of a portrait subject's face when you are holding the camera
vertically. Major win!
Oh gosh. Nice.
Now you can have the best of both worlds: manual selection of AF
points and auto-select of AF point; in this case within a smaller
area.
I guess I would have stumbled on this eventually by reading the
manual, but so far its spine remains uncracked.
Happy focussing!
