i often see this kind of statement (not just for Fuji), and i am puzzled — in what world would an 8-bit lossy image always be rendered just how i'd like, to the point that i would never want the latitude that a 14-bit raw file gives? even if the rendering is very good, how would the camera guess what i wanted to do with the image?
or is it an exercise like shooting slide film — you have to practice until you shoot with the specific rendering traits in mind?
