Thanks for posting the link Dan: macrophotography is a fascinating area. I was 
once apprenticed to
Hawker Aircraft in the UK, and one of my postings was to the quality control 
lab, where I learned to
use a very powerful microscope (possibly electronic) to take photos of the 
structure of hydraulic
line brazing - to make sure they were up to standard.  At some magnifications 
you could see the
crystalline structure of the materials.  Also learnt to use a smaller optical 
microscope to prepare
the samples, develop and print  the glass plates, so possibly that was where my 
interest in
photography was seeded.
