So on my search for a suitable replacement for the broken lens hood for
my FA 20-35mm I have discovered two, no, three things, apparently
there's a vendor in England who've pretty much cornered the market on
replacements of older Pentax lens hoods, that some venders can't be
bothered to take photos of their products being used properly. (See my
post "What's wrong with this picture"), and B&H Photo has them in stock
for, gasp, $58.00 which seems a bit excessive for some extruded plastic,
no matter how high the quality.

So the question is does anyone know of a reasonable substitute? I at
first thought that the RBC 58 for the FA 28-105mm might be a better
match for the APS-C sensor cameras, but they seem to be in even shorter
supply than the original lens hood, and who knows if the bayonet is even
compatible.

A good third party hood would be more than fine at this point, I really
don't want to spend almost 1/5th the amount on a new hood that I paid
for the lens when it was new.

I went through much the same thing when I broke the hood on my Tokina 28-70. B&H listed a replacement, but it was not in stock & likely never would be.

I finally found a replacement by stopping in at every independent camera store I encountered & asking if they had a box of old hoods around and if so, could I paw through it to see if the one I needed might be in there.
