My first computer had 48 K of memory, and NO hard drive. When you turned it off, everything you had done disappeared. I plugged a cassette tape recorder into it to save my basic and Pascal programs, but that worked only about 30% of the time. No monitor either; I plugged it into my TV set, and it displayed text only and then only in all caps.
