Stella D'Oro is one of the singers for the New Flamingo Swing Orchestra.
They played for our local lindy hop venue last night.
I think that this shot of her is my favorite from the set:

When I got there last night, there was someone taking photos using a
flash. As a dancer, I got to truly appreciate why so many dancers hate
it when photographers use flash. To make things worse, he had it on his
camera, pointing straight up. Sure, it's nice to get bounce rather than
direct light, but when you're in a dim room bouncing it off the ceiling
means that you have to light up the whole room just to photograph
someone a few feet in front of you.
A short while later, a couple a short distance from me was posing for
him and he turned his camera to get a vertical format shot of them. He
was oblivious to the fact that his speedlight was now pointing directly
in the faces of another couple a few feet to his left. Fortunately, he
repositioned himself before taking the shot.
After that song, I went over to chat with him, and suggest that he
should probably be more aware of where he was pointing his flash. I
guess I could have been a little more diplomatic about it, because he
didn't respond very positively to my suggestions. He did, however,
inform me that the room was too dark to photograph in without a flash.
Granted, I think his camera was a Canon, so for him it might have been.
