Thanks everyone. the first image is also my favorite. I wasn't pleased
with the second one and included it mainly to show the big difference
in a small focus shift.
Revisiting the scond shot and together with Mark's suggestion of a
diptych I now have created this version:

Suddenly the second image isn't that bad. As a standalone image it
wouldn't work.
