There use to be available an attachment for the end of the Pentax
bellows unit that allowed the copying of slides by a camera/lens setup.
I have one, I've used it - it worked well.

Other similar devices were available from other sources. If you can
find one, you could use your digital camera of choice and copy your
slides that way. Worth trying IMO.

I still have my bellows A set and slide copier attachment and I agree it's a
good combination. I have an Epson V600 and I'm delighted with the results
from scanning with this, although I would have gone for the V850 (I think)
in hindsight, as it scans 12 rather than the 4 slides at a time mine does.
Given the many thousands that have to still be done, this is a real long
term project. Some time ago I acquired a full frame camera, and that is the
easiest of the lot to copy slides with without fuss, as a 60mm lens and a
slide copier attachment gives perfect reproduction without all the fiddling
with bellows etc. Good for well exposed slides, but those that require a
little help later in post production software are still best scanned.
