I had to have a go at getting a shot of the lunar eclipse. This one
seems to bee the best, though I haven't closely examined all of them
yet.

Shot with the K-5 and FA*300/2.8 (so this is cropped quite a bit). One
half second exposure at f/6.7, ISO 1600 (with mirror pre-fire). I
tried a teleconverter but the resultant vibration enhancement just
revealed the inadequacy of my ball head for this application —
half-second exposures at these focal lengths require a gimbal mount of
some kind. Atomospheric haze was a problem, too: post processing was a
battle between sharpening and noise reduction with the inevitable
unsatisfactory compromise. Stiil, I think the result isn't too bad for
someone who has almost no experience with this kind of photography.
