You can't tell a lot through the viewfinder. Pixel peeping will show
all the warts. Even then when making prints or display sized files for
that matter, the edge effects may be acceptable.

Warning, this may cause some people a bit of angst.
I tried mounting some of my lenses on a full frame Pentax body and
then looking through the viewfinder to see how much was obstructed.
There was surprisingly little vignetting in the corners, suggesting
that the useable image size with so called digital lenses may be
larger than APS-C size on a K1.
This does not give any idea of the image quality around the edges, but
it is very encouraging, especially for my Limited and DA* lenses.

Yeah, people have been spreading the rumour that the official
announcement is going to come on Thursday. I've been skeptical myself.
But it appears, if I'm understanding things correctly, that someone
with connections to the German Ricoh distributor has posted an "Event"
on Facebook for the official K-1 unveiling at 6:00 p.m. (German time)
on Thursday and they give the location as being Pentax Ricoh Imaging
in Hamburg. That's pretty damned specific...
