Don't give up on cutting. With a box cutter and fresh blade and a T-square, 
it's easy. If you can scam a calibrated cutting board it's a no brainer. The 
boards are gridded in inches and you can cut right into them without leaving a 
mark. Miraculous! Ad agencies and publishers replace their cutting boards when 
they're still  good. I garbage picked mine from BBDO.
