It's a statue, carved from wood. I was amused that the best vantage point was from the parking lot of the volunteer fire department across the street. The place burned down a few weeks ago on a Sunday afternoon. It apparently went up like a tinderbox, everyone got out, but within a couple of minutes it was totally engulfed in flame.
