Thanks for this info, Jostein. I was hoping someone would mention
Induro as that one and Benro are available here retail.
I also recommended Induro/Benro. They are a very good deal for the money.

I believe Feisol, Benro, Sirui and Induro all come out about the same. I'm
not positively certain that they all come out of the same factory, but I
certainly have my suspicions... :-)
I have two different carbon Induros. They're both a little fiddly with the
locking mechanism, but not annoyingly so. They operate in a wide range of
temperatures; the larger one has accompanied me to both Spitsbergen (-25°C)
and Death Valley (at a balmy +30°C).

My Feisol CT3442 Tournament legs are about ten years old and show no signs
of wear or age as yet. They've been used a lot.
I looked up the latest version and note that they've been uprated to 55lbs
load and have the new "rapid anti-leg-rotation" technology in the leg locks.
The anti-rotation gizmo would be nice, it would speed up their use a good
bit. As I said, I find the weight ratings absurdly optimistic—even the old
ones!—but a set of these legs will handle an 8lb+ camera and long lens very
well. They're also very light and easy to carry: all up weight of legs and
head with carry bag is four and a quarter pounds IIRC.

Two strong recommendations for Feisol; I am already Googling as we
speak. I notice that Feisol is a lot less expensive than Gitzo which
appears to be the Leica of tripods in comparison. …
