John's idea sounds like a plan to me - Muir Woods etc. on Friday, and
if we can be picked up at 501 Hillside Boulevard, South San Francisco
at, say, 10.30-11.00, or whatever time after that is practical, we'd
be more than ready!

Since you won't want to be driving back in the rush-hour traffic
(which we saw today from the bus from Santa Barbara!) you may want to
finish up about 3.30-4.00 - up to you guys?

        John, now finally in SF.

Subject:Re: Bay Area meetup with the Coyle's

I must admit I think we'd be better off not trying to get up to SF
only to come all the way back down the peninsula (and repeat that
exercise again later in the day).

We've had PDML meets up in the north before; one at Muir Woods
(which definitely puts a tick in the "Redwoods" checkbox), one
on the Marin headlands, and one on Treasure Island. Any (or all)
of those could be worth repeating. While they are somewhat of
the typical tourist fare, there's a reason for that - they all
offer good photo opportunities, and (IMO) it would be a shame
to miss every one of them in what may be our visitor's only trip
 to the bay area.

I'd suggest heading out north over the Golden Gate bridge (with
a possible stop at the viewing area and/or a side trip to the
Marin headlands), and heading for Muir Woods. Depending on how
the time goes it might be worth trying to visit Treasure Island
on the way back into SF, especially if we can be there for sunset.

Anyone care to add any comments?
