I heard about the quake just before we went to bed last night - glad to hear that Christchurch seems to have escaped serious damage. I wondered about Kaikoura - I remember it as a beautiful coastal town with majestic snow-capped mountains to the west. I hope damage there is minimal and that no lives have been lost.
