I heard about the quake just before we went to bed last night - glad to
hear that Christchurch seems to have escaped serious damage.  I wondered
about Kaikoura - I remember it as a beautiful coastal town with majestic
snow-capped mountains to the west.  I hope damage there is minimal and
that no lives have been lost.
