Yep, those flower can look very nice. Anza-Borrefo desert is close to those who live in So.Cal. (San Diego, Orange County, LA), but rather far from most of CA-PDMLers, as they live in the northern part of the state.


In March, the weather in So.Cal is a big function of geographic coordinates: I remember one year, we went (from SD) to ski at Big Bear (2-3 hour drive from San Diego) and enjoyed snow there, and then the next weekend, we went to Anza-Borrego to look at the desert flowers, where we had to apply plenty of sun screen and were sweating in t-shirts.

As for the photos used in the linked article, - there is an apparent color cast (purple in some, yellow in some others) in some photos. It looks weird a bit. Some of that cast could come from the pre-sunset light, but in some cases it looks just as being messed up...
