Pat Moss (Stirling's sister) was Erik Carlsson's wife!

I first met Moss at a Saab press dinner at Hilton Head. Eric Carlsson, Saab's rally star, was there, and would take the journalists for hair raising rides the next day at a Georgia racetrack. (He put one car on its roof with a scribe seated beside him and teased me because I politely declined an invitation to try for rollover number two.) Anyway to get to the point, Eric's sister was the wife of Stirling Moss, so Eric had invited them to the Hilton Head bash. As journalists pressed Moss for tales of his days behind the wheel he would steer the conversation back to Carlsson and Saab. And of course there are plenty of Eric "on the roof" Carlsson stories out there. Good guy, Moss. Carlsson too.

Looks a bit dim and yellow on my monitor

Probably display calibration differences. I could brighten it a touch,
but I kinda like the deep tones. I'll be making a couple of prints soon
and might revise it a bit at that point.

Gods, what a beautiful machine!

I haven't seen that car there. I may have to swing by after lunch on
Monday or something.

I don't know when it arrived--it's on loan from Indianapolis.
Do go see it if you get the chance ... It represents a significant piece
of auto racing history.

My claim to Sir Stirling Moss fame. Back in the 1990s I was filming at
McLaren HQ near London, packed room, lots of people. Camera was on
shoulder, filming interviews in close quarters, I swung around and felt
the back of the cam clobber something, turned slowly to see Moss nursing
a growing bump on his head!!!!

Nice pics btw!

Thanks Cotty!

My 'moment with the star' was at the Goodwood Festival of Speed some miserable, pissing-down-rain day in the 1990s. I and my friends are slogging our way up through snot-slick muddy paths when a small scooter came zinging down the path towards us. It was moving way too fast and we jumped backwards off the path to get out of the way … Two of us fell down in the process and the scooter slid to a halt practially over me.

"Sorry about that, chaps! It almost got away from me in this muck! Let me help you up!" and the hand of septeganarian Sir Stirling Moss reached down to assist me to my feet. I was covered with mud down my right side and I think all the dredgings of Istanbul were in my right shoe. "Thank you, sir! And could I have your autograph in the mud on my shirt, please?" I grinned at the man. We both laughed and he signed my program. He hung with us a few moments than raced off for whatever appointment he had already been late for.

Somewhere in my mess I still have that program. :-)
