Flavio, I have got the lever to couple with the right part of the lens. My problem is that it won't stay there for long. It will be fine a couple of weeks or even months, but eventually the problem I described will come back. I can then adjust it once more, but it won't hold long. That is, I have pushed said lever back to its original postition to the best of my ability, with the guidance of another camera, a ME. It looks alright but is evidently drifting in some way.
