Waverley Abbey is situated on the River Wey near Farnham, Surrey. Its time span is similar to that of Fountains Abbey but the construction was far inferior. The abbey was just as extensive but mostly only the foundations & crumbling walls remain apart from one building. The property passed into private hands in the 18th century during which the extensive Waverley Abbey House (mostly used as a conference centre) was built. The lands are still use agriculturally with cows & sheep in attendance. I have attached a couple of river scenes for the birders.
