I don't want Wi_FI. I have a flip phone that is used only for talk
and very occasional text between phones -- no
web access at all. ... I feel cable only connection to the web is safer
- I only go on line from my lovely big Hp desktop.
ands my TV is only a TV -it isn't "smart".

The speed tester at : http://beta.speedtest.net/
doesn't require flash, so you should be good to go.
(Their legacy speedtest page does require flash, so don't bother with
that.)

FWIW Chrome has flash built in, and when chrome auto-updates it also
updates its version of flash. Personally I'm reluctant to install
flash other than as part of chrome for that reason.
