Despite being able to get to the space and screw up the plane climate,
humans are small helpless speckles when facing the major forces of nature,
wild fires, hurricane, or tornadoes.
Brian,
So sorry for the loss of your friends, but glad to hear (I assume) that
they escaped unharmed.
When we lived in So. Cal., there were 2-3 times when I was afraid the
fire could reach our area. One time we slept with a few things packed into
the car, and a bag with documents and most important things staying by the
door.

I just saw it on the TV news. Terrible scenes. Just like we had in Knysna
last year & in Sydney a few
years ago. Man is so helpless against the forces of nature.

Hoping any PDMLers in the LA area are safe. The fires look terrifying.
Our dear friends Jo & Byron lost their house at Casitas Springs near
Ojai.
We
had stayed with them during our 2013 trip to the west coast.
