Pensacola Beach is about a hundred miles (as the seagull flies) from where
Michael's eye came ashore at Mexico Beach. I expect that's far enough away the
damage was minimal.

Caesar Matamoros just posted his " safe " message on facebook... I didn't
remember if he still had a home in Panama City -- he and his kin are safe

Panama City is just west of the exact landfall of the eye of the Cat 4
hurricane and there was very extensive damage there but the town where the
eye passed over was obliterated.. as if a tornado had hit.
My niece-in-law lives in Ft Walton Beach - about 65 miles farther west and
thye may ahve had some damamge and lost power but nothing as dire as to the
east.. at least, not according to the weather channel reports.. She
hunkered down and is supposed to be in Iowa today - haven't heard from her
again.
