Fair Use, Perhaps?

It certainly is improper, unethical and illegal to download copyrighted
images to sell, to use for commercial purposes, or to pass off as your
own.  Is it, however, improper to do so, with credit to the copyright
owner, for critical or educational purposes, or to introduce someone to the
work of that photographer, or to illustrate a point about photography?
