I have no Idea, but, it sounds like Ricoh made a very poor design choice.

Side note, I left my tango class and it was overcast on my way to
swing dancing. Then halfway through the evening someone interrupted
the dancing to say that the eclipse was almost full and the moon was
peaking out from the clouds.
