This wire is made from an alloy of copper and silver and Belgian railways took it down at record speed once this part of the shunting yard had been taken out of service to save it from being stolen. The region has a serious problem with metal thieves coming across the Dutch border as well as from Eastern Europe. They even steal gully covers and I've had a few near misses driving by night.
