Well, yes and no, Bob.  If the user just wants to take manual focus
photos, then there is likely to be no interest in the MEF over an ME
Super.  However, if the user has any historical interest, or happens
to like the novelty (and somewhat limited usefulness) of focus
confirmation (or of autofocus with the AF 35-70/2.8), then there may
be some MEF interest shown.

Yes, it does take 4 button cells, not 2.  However, it is my
experience that it doesn't use 'em up at an obviously faster rate,
if the extra focus functions (including the sound function) are not
being utilized.

It is often broken on the typical "eBay special", but probably not
as often as are the battery holder latches on MX winders - <g>.
