No, they just towed her into and out of the lock. This is mandatory for vessels of this size. She got to India under her own power. Others have indeed been towed all the way, some even using tugs which were also destined for scrapping. The French branch of Robin Wood issue a quarterly document about all vessels that have been scrapped in the last months.
