Also the older Pentax filters are not SMC - when it's SMC, it says so. I think SMC is better than Hoya's HMC or SuperHMC by a bit, but it still reflects green back on the image if light source is in the frame. Just slightly less so than HMC, which is already very good in this regard. Use a ghostless filter for no secondary image of light source (of course not poss. with polariser). Also, most polarisers are less prone to flare due to the polarised light, I think. At least it looks so with my uncoated (or singlecoated) BW top-pol filter shot straight into the sun - look at www.volny.cz/fotof/scapes/autumn & see drunken land pic - it's with this filter and 20mm lens.
