After weeks of cold rainy weather we had temps around 80 degrees F this past
weekend. That of course woke up some plants. I shot a sparrow, fortuitously in
the forsythias, and a couple of daffodils (while awaiting birds). Today, my
snowfountain cherry tree burst into bloom. I planted it 28 years ago when a
friend moved away. We remained close for 27 years until she recognized some
elements of our relationship in my novel and ended it all. Like friendship, the
blooms of the snowfountain cherry are fragile, so I photographed it today under
grey skies, lest tonights cold and rain drive those little flowers to the
ground.

The daffodils and sparrow were shot with the K-3, D FA 150-450 and DA 1.4X
converter. I shot the cherry tree with the K-1 and D FA 24-70, using the
attenuating screen and live view to achieve a ground level view.
