My 8 year old iMac 27 Retina K5 gave up the ghost. It had been getting flakey for awhile. When writing it would sometimes freeze and restart. I sometimes had to grabs snapshot of the screen if I didn’t have a recent save, and then type the text back in after a restart. Finally, it refused to start. The big loss was its 5k monitor which can’t be used separately.
I had wanted to upgrade to a silicon Mac that could run the latest photoshop AI tools, so it’s timely, I bought a Mac Mini M2 Pro with much more processing power than my old iMac. For a monitor I bought a 32-inch LG 4K IPS screen, I’ll keep my old 27-inch IPS Dell as a second screen.all considered a fairly economical solution.
