I spent some time chatting with the lad in the background of the picture. He and his dad had salvaged the machine from a farmyard and had taken it on. He indicated that this was the first 4 wheel drive truck introduced to the civilian market. I don't know if that's the fact, but he seemed pretty sure of himself.

He is VERY proud of his truck.

This one is powered by the original 218CID inline 6 that it came from the factory with. When they did the restoration they used bed liner spray on the running boards rather than the original gloss black enamel. I think that was the only unforced "improvement" they made. I don't think the tires were stock, but I suspect that after nearly 80 years, the stock tires are no longer readily available so they did the best they could.
