I was in Ecuador in September. Part of the time was spent on a several-day guided drive along the Andes range, and one day that included a drive up the flanks of Chimborazo to about 15,800 feet, location of a climbers refuge and a monument to lost climbers. On the way back down we stopped at another refuge to eat our lunch; it happened that that location was the start/finish for a 49.1k trail-running Sky Race then in progress.
