My comment was mostly a joke, whether about the automation or you being a nerd is a question that will be left as an exercise for the student.

However, a combination of either a surveillance camera or a motion detector and a remote shutter for your pentax would get the images. If you could wrap in some sort of eye detection you'd be golden.
