Hi, surely the first photo was Leonardo da Vinci's self-portrait, which is now doing the rounds as the Shroud of Turin <g>.
In some ways photography has been around since at least the Middle Ages. There's a fascinating book by Philip Steadman called "Vermeer's Camera" in which the author argues that Vermeer used a camera obscura to paint his most famous works. He makes a very good case. The book includes a brief historical overview of the use of the camera obscura and other optical devices by painters, sketchers and others which I'm sure must be interest to most photographers. --- Bob mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Thursday, June 27, 2002, 12:31:28 PM, you wrote: > Hi - There's an article on msnbc that I thought you all would be interested in: > although I'm pretty sure it was not taken with a Pentax :) > http://www.msnbc.com/news/772860.asp?0dm=N15LT > Criteque? :) > Oliver - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List.
